Screening Programs

Screening programs for vision and hearing are conducted for all students in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, fourth grade, and eight grade. Students from other grades may also be tested at the request of parents or teachers. Follow-up of children who fail screenings is performed by both vision and hearing technicians and school nurses. Scoliosis screening is completed in sixth grade for girls and in eighth grade for boys. Language, speech, and psychological screenings are available when problems are noted.
