BOARD OF EDUCATION OF FREDERICK COUNTY

 

 

MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD

 

July 17, 2002

 

 

            The Board of Education met for a Special Meeting at 11:10 a.m. in the Administrative Conference Room.  In attendance were President Ronald W. Peppe, II, Vice President Daryl A. Boffman, Deborah A. Aughenbaugh, Stephen Crawford,

Anne B. Hooper, Linda S. Naylor, and Jean A. Smith.    Also in attendance were

Judith A. Ricketts, Administrative Director; Hank Bohlander, Director of High Schools; Steve Hess, Director of Curriculum and Evaluation; Doreen Bass, Grant Writer; Marty Tarr, Principal of Gov. Thomas Johnson High School; and Renee Foose, Assistant Principal, Gov. Thomas Johnson High School.

 

COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL REFORM DEMONSTRATION GRANT

 

            Mr. Hess presented an overview of the Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Grant.  This three-year grant in the total amount of $459,000 will provide funds to Gov. Thomas Johnson High School to implement a comprehensive school reform program.  Gov. Thomas Johnson High has selected The Johns Hopkins University Talent Development Program as its school reform model provider.  Mr. Hess, Ms. Tarr, and Ms. Bass responded to Board members’ questions.

 

            Mrs. Hooper stated that the Curriculum and Instruction Committee recommends approval of the Comprehensive School Reform Demonstration Grant.  The motion was unanimously approved.
