 PTA Council of Frederick County Roundtable

 

January 30, 2001

 

MINUTES

 

            The Board of Education met at 7:50 p.m. in the Monocacy Middle School Media Center.  In attendance were President Ronald W. Peppe, II, Vice President Deborah A. Aughenbaugh, Daryl A. Boffman, Stephen Crawford, Anne B. Hooper, and Linda S. Naylor. Jean A. Smith was absent.  Judith A. Ricketts, Administrative Director, was also in attendance.

 

            Sharla Worley, President of the PTA Council of Frederick County, opened the meeting, and introductions were made. 

 

Board members responded to questions and made comments regarding:

 

            All-day kindergarten

            Extending the kindergarten day

            Enrichment for kindergarten students

            Reading initiatives program

            Class size/Board of Education goals

            Cross-system equity

            Status of School Modernization Plan

            School initiatives

            School PTA support of PSAT practice test    

            Sharing best practices throughout the system

            Middle school report cards

            School calendar for teacher training

            Need for media assistants in every school

Funding formula for school construction

The importance of following legislative issues

 

Board of Education members thanked the individuals for attending this meeting and for being involved.  They encouraged communication to the Board of Education by email as well as to the Frederick County Delegation to keep them informed.

 

            Mrs. Worley thanked Board members for participating in this meeting.
