Michael E. Schaden

Vice President

Dr. Michael Schaden was elected in November 2002 to a 4-year term on the Board of Education to be served December 2002-2006. He received his VMD degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.

A practicing veterinarian, Dr. Schaden owns the Opossum Pike Veterinary Clinic, the Thurmont Veterinary Clinic and the Ballenger Creek Veterinary Clinic. His volunteer experience includes years of involvement in the school system serving as PTA and athletic boosters president, chair and advisory committee member of the Frederick County Science and Engineering Fair and the Superintendent's Advisory Committee on School Construction and Attendance Areas, co-chair of a Safe and Sane graduation event and participation in numerous career day and visitation programs. Community volunteer activities include service on the Rotary Club of Frederick Board of Directors, Big Brothers/Big Sisters Board of Directors, Frederick Jaycees past presidency, Frederick High School Alumni Association past presidency, March of Dimes executive committee, coaching, and United Way fundraising.

A Frederick County resident, Dr. Schaden and his wife have three children, all of whom were educated in Frederick County Public Schools.
